Subject: Our Solidarity Worked!

Sisters and Brothers,

Last week, we asked you to sign a petition calling on mine giant ASARCO to take action against a human resources manager who grabbed a female USW member by the arm and threw books at her at work. This happened in the company’s Ray Mine Complex north of Tucson, Arizona.

Thousands of you signed your name in an amazing display of unity against violence in the work place.

This past weekend, we got news that the supervisor was fired.

This is solidarity in action. This is the power of our union. When we stick together, and act collectively, we can achieve anything!

Thank you for your support and your activism. Together, we sent a powerful message that there is no place for violence at work or anywhere else, and that Steelworkers stick together.

USW members at ASARCO operate the company’s copper mines, smelter, concentrator and refinery in Arizona and Texas. Our sisters and brother still need our support as they continue to fight for a new contract, so please keep them in your thoughts.

Thanks again for standing up for the right thing and supporting our sister in her time of need.

In Solidarity,

The USW
