I grew up with the bay at the front door, so we were able to fish
and crab from mere rowboats or even from the pier. The seaweed clung
to our oars, but by sometime in the 70s, I think, the seaweed was
gone, and the fish were disappearing. At about that time, Cousteau
returned from an expedition to the Mediterranean floor and exclaimed
"The SEAWEED is GONE!"
As for guns, my father said they scare the fish.
